This gallery holds various unfinished Winamp skins I've worked on. I've only included skins that I am very sure I will never finish for various reasons, organized in approximate chronological order.

Winamp Island

Winamp Island

This was an attempt at a "treasure map" sort of Winamp skin. Looking at it now, it still achieves that goal rather well. Unforunately, there were problems with the EQ bars being in the way, and eventually I gave up on the skin. The skin files subsequently went missing, and all I have left is this JPEG-quality screenshot of the skin (the blue areas are, incidentally, from Terminus, which I was apparently building this on top of). "Here be sea llamas" was actually the easter egg titlebar.

Gwen Frostic

Gwen Frostic

Based on the excellent work of Michigan artist Gwen Frostic. I didn't make it very far on this skin because I couldn't think of anything that would measure up to Gwen's art, and I couldn't even begin to start work again without restarting with layers and all. Gwen Frostic passed away in 2001, but you can still visit her website or her shop in Benzonia, Michigan to buy prints and other items bearing her art.

GreenSoft

GreenSoft

Basically my first attempt at seriously using layers in a skin. Some poor 3D effects included for free!

Magic: The Gathering TCG

Magic: The Gathering TCG

I started this skin as an homage to my old favorite game. Unfortunately, it ended up as a rather huge bevelfest sorely in need of antialiasing. I enjoy quite a few of the elements I included, but I don't remember much of the method used in creating it, so it is highly unlikely that I will ever work on this again.

Puzzling

Puzzling

Inspired a while back by a proposed "toy" skinning contest. It turned out to be a bit confusing for a functional skin.

Teh Kittie 2: Nature version

Teh Kittie 2

Yes, as you can see, I use actual codenames on this page. This is really a design in search of a subject. It took a while for me to realize that the grid is just too small for photos to go in there. Here we have an early version that used pictures of my cat Golly, another version with art from Magic: The Gathering, and the most complete version, with a nature theme.

Haha. I had some fun putting this together as a collection of elements from my previous skins, but it doesn't really make it as a serious skin. I might one day finish it, if only for my own personal use.
